Meet Our UAE Tutoring Staff
Our tutors and staff of UAE consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.
Sylvan Learning Center of Al Barsha is located in the heart of Barsha 1. On the 1st floor of the Al Shaya Boutique building, we are directly across from Al Mawakeb school, on First Al Khail Street, and behind Dubai National School. Starbucks is conveniently located just below our office if you fancy coffee while your child dives in to his or her highly personalized learning session. Meet Our Teachers
CO-DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION: NOREEN
A New York City native, Noreen attended the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and received a doctorate in Pharmacy in 2010. She moved to Dubai in November of 2013 and decided to pursue her passion – teaching! She was always dedicated to helping people, whether it was tutoring a family friend’s son in Algebra when she was twelve to helping fellow classmates pass Organic Chemistry in college. She finds it rewarding helping people learn and connect the dots.
CO-CENTER DIRECTOR: ADNAN
Adnan was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. After graduating from the International School of Choueifat, he moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2008 to pursue a university degree. Adnan graduated from the American University of Sharjah with a Mechanical Engineering degree and a minor in Aerospace Engineering. He then continued his educational journey and graduated with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on Renewable Energy and Nanotechnology. He was fortunate enough to have worked as a Teacher Assistant and a Lab Instructor during his graduate years. When Adnan is not busy doing research, he enjoys playing sports and watching football.
Yosr was born in Alexandria, Egypt and moved to Dubai with her family when she was only 3 years old. She spent 12 years studying at the International School of Choueifat, where she received her High School Degree. Afterwards, she majored in Architecture and minored in Design Management at the American University of Sharjah, graduating in January 2013. Currently, she is enrolled at the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, where she will receive her Masters in Architectural Management and Design, in February 2017. Yosr is a part-time practicing Architect and a freelance Writer for several magazines. When she isn’t busy working on her designs, writing or teaching, Yosr likes to spend her time on the beach reading, which is her life’s passion.
Kinda was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised in North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. After graduating from college, she moved to the Chicago suburbs where she started her career with Zurich Insurance Group. Kinda also enjoyed working in real estate there after getting married and having her first child, as it gave her some flexibility to focus on her new family. Six years ago, she was lucky enough to come to Dubai with her husband and three children, and she loves life in Dubai! Kinda’s full time job is as Executive Assistant to Director and Personnel Officer at Universal American School in Dubai Festival City, and she really enjoys working in the education sector. She loves to help kids learn new things and to keep them engaged so that they enjoy it!
Born and raised in Dubai, Nada graduated from the American University of Sharjah in June 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and a minor in English Literature. As a student, she worked at her university’s Writing Center for two years, where she helped other students become better writers. She has taken a keen interest in research and currently works as a Psychology Lab Coordinator at the American University of Sharjah. She hopes to one day pursue a Master’s degree in Media Research and to teach in a university setting. In her spare time, Nada enjoys reading, baking and being active.
DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION: RABIA
I was bought up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Abu-Dhabi U.A.E.I have a degree in Bachelors in Business Management, with Minor in Business Marketing from the Abu Dhabi University and soon will pursue my degree in Education & Leadership. My association with the Sylvan family started since 2011 when the first center was opened in the capital city. Since then I have been able to develop a strong bond with the Sylvan parents and students. I also love to teach the students and be involved in every education process at the center. In my free time I like to travel with my family, watch movies, and cook. I believe there is no greater reward for your hard work than witnessing a child progress in his/her academics and building their confidence!
Razan Za’atreh was born and raised in Amman, Jordan. She studied at the University of Jordan and received her B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering in 2015.After graduating, she moved to the UAE with her husband. Razan has always been dedicated to help people, she used to teach and help her sisters with math and science. Razan joined the Sylvan family and is thrilled to invest her time in engaging with students of various grade levels and curricula and contributing to their academic growth.
Sylvan student Rawdha says “Ms. Razan is very approachable and willing to help me whenever needed. She helps me understand difficult Math concepts with ease.”
Chipo holds a degree in Primary Education from the University of Zimbabwe. She is an accomplished educator with demonstrated ability to teach, motivate and direct students while maintaining high interest and achievement. She loves to work with small aged groups which need extra support in English and Numeracy skills.
Sylvan student Mansoor says “Ms. Chipo is fun to learn from. I enjoy my sessions with her.”
Christine was born and raised in Dubai. Graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering and worked as a System Engineer for 3 years. Joined Sylvan on February 2017 and absolutely loves teaching the students here. She teaches various grade levels and loves to make it a fun experience for the students. She spends endless hours reading articles posted on ‘Medium’ and books.
